Beta Reading

Don't wait for the critics' reviews. Get feedback before publishing.

Have you not received feedback on big-picture issues yet? A new perspective could shed a whole new light on your characters and plot.

Typically, a developmental editor will be able to offer an in-depth review to shape the story's core elements. If you choose to forego this step (not usually recommended) or would simply like reader feedback, recruiting alpha and beta readers could help you avoid negative reader reviews.

In a beta read, I comment on potential issues with plot, characters, structure, pacing, etc. from the perspective of a reader. For this reason, I only accept beta reading projects in genres and topics that I have some interest or knowledge in.

If you choose beta reading as a service, you will receive comments embedded in the Word document, as well as major or overarching issues addressed in a full email with suggested changes.

Please note that beta reading is not developmental editing. That is not a service I offer at this time.
